Apparel

You have reached our future Apparel section of our web site.  This section is still being formulated to become the leading destination for Apparel productions and information on the internet.  As we progress with this section, you will be able to find all things relevant to Apparel.  Please be patient as we work to develop the worlds largest guide to Apparel.  In the mean time you can try some of the following Apparel web sites already in existence.  In the future, ours will be the very best Apparel resource...

Your more information about Apparel you can visit the Apparel Search web site at https://www.apparelsearch.com

We have researched for many years the best way to classify the terms "Apparel", "Clothing" and "Fashion" into a simplified definition.  Our aim has been to help educate both members of the clothing industry as well as the general public.  After years of research, we have determined that it is beyond challenging to put all of the characteristics of this vast industry into a simple definition.

As we continue to investigate the full scope of clothing and textiles, we realize the subject is truly to broad in subject matter to condense into simplicity.  For an idea of the various terms relevant to the clothing industry, you can visit the Apparel Search Glossary at https://www.apparelsearch.com/glossary.htm (compiled & owned by the Apparel Search Company) or you can view the definition list at http://www.apparelsearch.com/Definitions/Definition_List_Clothes.htm  (this definition list is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License , From Wikipedia)

During our research, we discovered the following information from the United States Patent & Trade Mark Office.  Although the list is a difficult read (rather boring...) it gives a good indication of the true scope of the world of clothing.  Essentially, the information on this page was presented in the year 2000 as a classification system for the US Patent and Trade Mark Office to following when dealing with clothing and clothing related items.
Information on this page is from:
U.S. Patent Classification System - Classification Definitions as of June 30, 2000
The U.S. Patent Classification System (USPC) is used to classify patents granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The USPC provides for the storage and retrieval of every U.S. patent document that a patent examiner needs to review when examining patent applications. This set of web pages displays the classification definitions corresponding to classes and subclasses contained in the USPC. The classification definitions are those that existed as of the date listed at the top of the page. Please note that the USPC is updated regularly to better categorize patented technologies. As these definitions are updated, all existing U.S. patents granted since 1790 are reclassified to reflect these classification updates. While measures have been taken to provide accurate and complete information in these web pages, errors and omissions may occur. For a more complete description of the U.S. Patent Classification System and the procedures used to classify patents within the system, please consult the Examiner Handbook to the U.S. Patent Classification System.

This is NOT the most current or most accurate classification system.  This is just for your reference to help illustrate the complexity and number of classifications for Clothing.
